Blast off to success!

$22,404 of

$25,000

raised!

On behalf of the Peregrine School Board, we would like to extend a massive THANK YOU for the generous contributions you made and the amazing and contagious energy you brought to the Big Day of Giving 2018!  With your help, we raised $22,403.  It's so heartwarming to see our entire community of families, staff, friends and neighbor come together to support our school.  The money that we raised will help re-develop our school gardens, support professional development for staff, and provide new play structures and technology for the classrooms!  Your donations have a huge impact on our students and teachers, and we thank you for being a part of our story this year!

What is Big Day of Giving? Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour online giving challenge on May 3, 2018 to raise money for the Sacramento region’s nonprofit community. Peregrine School is a non-profit organization and Big Day of Giving is our MAIN fundraiser – this means we will NEVER make you buy (or sell) magazine subscriptions or wrapping paper.

Why is fundraising needed? Like most independent schools, Peregrine School faces the challenge that tuition alone covers only some of our expenses. To meet our mission of educating children to be creative, critical thinkers, we rely on the generosity of individuals like you.

Why donate on Big Day of Giving? Make your tax-deductible donation work harder. On May 3, 2018 Big DOG sponsors will award $50,000 in prizes across participating non-profits.

Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 for...

Anchor 1

Elementary ~$8,000

  • Convert our concrete patio into an urban forest ($4,000). Help transform our concrete patio into a living breathing “forest” through a combination of trellises and shade trees planted in the concrete. The exposed patio radiates a lot of heat in the summer and is chilly in the winter. The trees will provide shade and protection from the elements, making the patio a more pleasant and usable space year-round.

  • Grey water outdoor sink station in the patio ($1,000). The sink will enable students to wash their harvest and hands on the patio instead of traipsing to the bathrooms and tracking mud through the hallways.  Waste water will be diverted to the native garden.

  • Professional development ($3,000). Teachers are the cornerstone of Peregrine School’s educational philosophy. Our teachers mastermind academics that are fun yet creative and challenging for our children. Help keep their ideas fresh and innovative. Help supplement our existing Professional Development budget.  It costs approximately $1,000 to send 1 teacher to a 2-day conference.

Last year your donations enabled us to purchase multiple climbing structures and swings for our elementary backyard. The kids love them!

ECC South ~$12,000

  • Redevelop part of our ECC garden. Our students learn outside, play outside, and eat outside. The garden re-design will provide more opportunities for being, playing and learning in our outdoor classroom.

  • Outdoor climbing structure. Help keep students active and engaged.

  • iPads x3 Each class plans to use the iPads differently. Technology is always used as a learning tool, not as a replacement for direct experience. For example, Primaria plans to use the iPads for their listening stations and our Pandas classroom hopes to help students document their explorations in music, dance, and drama.

ECC West ~$5,000

  • A toddler loft, dome climber and mud kitchen. A rich play environment is one of the building blocks of Peregrine’s style of education. Help fuel imagination!

  • Update our existing irrigation system. We have a wonderful, natural, outdoor teaching environment. Our vegetable and flower gardens, fruit trees, and compost piles all provide sources for scientific inquiry.  Help ensure the longevity of our outdoor teaching environment.

  • Library books and Lifetime outdoor chairs.

Last year your donations enabled us to purchase lofts for the South campus, sensory tables and a playhouse remodel for the West campus. They have been wonderful assets to our classrooms, providing hours of learning and imaginary play.
