Administrative DIRECTOR

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking a person who is enthusiastic about supporting the education of children and who thrives in a dynamic work environment. The Administrative Director manages all business and operational aspects of the school. This position supervises all staff in the administration, food service and facilities departments, approximately 10-12 employees. The position is based at Peregrine School South located on Lillard Drive with frequent travel to the West site campus.


  • College degree required

  • Three years or more management/supervisory experience

  • Experience in a related school or non-profit position

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills: clear, articulate, and professional

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Works well in a busy, dynamic environment 

  • Ability to use information and computer technology, and standard computer programs such as the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Basic understanding of the workings of information technology and the importance of network and systems security and reliability

  • Basic understanding of the human resources function, employment law and compliance


Human Resources 

  • Oversee management of employee life-cycle with the school, from recruitment to termination of employment

  • Review, develop and administer personnel policies e.g., employee handbook, employment agreements, and implementation of state and federal labor laws

  • Coordinate with other Directors on personnel issues, e.g., disability accommodation, protected leaves of absence and separation of employment

  • Oversee payroll process, from timesheets to paycheck disbursement

  • Oversee employee medical benefits   


  • Work closely with the Head of School and Finance Director to prepare and manage the operating budgets   


  • Supervise administrative staff, including Admissions Administrator, Extra Curricular and Development Coordinator, HR Coordinator, Financial Administrator, Facilities Coordinator, kitchen staff, and support staff

  • Step in to support various departments as needed in case of staffing shortage e.g., a classroom or COVID-19 screening station.

  • Support academic directors to ensure compliance with child care licensing and private school requirements

  • Work with IT vendor to ensure school has suitable technology for cybersecurity and data management


  • Provide leadership and oversight of Peregrine School’s operations

  • Work with other Directors and Board to set strategic goals for the school

  • Work with other Directors on policy setting, operational discussions and decisions, and risk management

  • Coordinate with other Directors on school-wide communications

  • Attend Board and Finance meetings as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work on-site at both south and west campuses

  • Sit/work at a computer for prolonged periods

Job Type: Full-time, exempt

Salary: $60,000 - 65,000/year

Preschool Teachers

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking creative individuals who would like to join Peregrine School’s teaching team as teachers in our preschool program providing educational daycare for students 18 months-5 years old. Peregrine School is currently hiring for our El Nido South, Escuelita South, and Escuelita West programs for the 2020-2021 school year.


  • Twelve (12) units of child development courses that qualify a candidate to become a Teacher according to California state licensing requirements for daycare centers. At least three (3) units must be infant/toddler development courses to work in the toddler program. Applicants may start with six (6) units if they are currently enrolled in more.

  • Life-long learner with academic interests in core subjects

  • Flexibility and initiative, responsibility and reliability

  • Experience working with preschool age children

  • Willingness to support and forward a progressive philosophy of education which is child centered and inquiry based

  • Willingness and ability to engage in play-based program

  • Willingness to work out of doors in an outdoor education oriented school

  • Understanding of and ability to apply a positive discipline approach which works with preschool students

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $14.00 to $15.50/hour

Substitute Teachers
