Floating Teacher/Teacher's Aide (Full-time)

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking a creative individual who would like to join Peregrine teaching team as a teacher or teacher's aide in our preschool program providing educational daycare for students 18 months-6 years old. This specific position is a Floating Teacher/Teacher's Aide, meaning you could be working in a different classroom with different age groups depending on the day. Primarily, you will be tasked with taking the place of one of the classroom's regular teaching staff in case of absence. Other duties include providing additional support and assistance on field trips or with class projects and performances. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to tackle a new challenge every day, and doesn't mind adjusting to meet the needs of a sometimes rapidly changing work environment. In the absence of special circumstances, the Floating Teacher provides additional support for the El Nido toddler's program.

This position reports to the Preschool Director, and to the Head Teachers of the classroom to which they are assigned.

Contract will run until the end of June, with the possibility to return in August for next school year. Some work over the summer may be available but can not be guaranteed.

  • Experience working with preschool age children

  • Willingness to support and forward a progressive philosophy of education which is child centered and inquiry based

  • Willingness and ability to engage in play-based program

  • Willingness to work out of doors in an outdoor education oriented school

  • Understanding of and ability to apply a positive discipline approach which works with preschool students

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.50 to $15.50 /hour

Chinese Elementary Associate Teacher

Summary of Job Description:

Peregrine Elementary School in Davis is looking for a bilingual (Chinese and English) speaking Elementary Associate Teacher for an innovative

Reggio-Emilia inspired Chinese immersion kindergarten program. This position requires individuals who are capable of supporting the Teacher at group activity time, as well as independently supervising students at transitions, free play, and leading certain science, outdoor education, arts, language and math activities. This position is based at Peregrine School South located on Lillard Drive.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Enthusiastically support the school philosophy

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Collaborate with and support the classroom Teacher e.g., prepare lessons and projects

  • Ability to understand and follow directions

  • Strong communication skills

  • Punctuality and excellent attendance

  • Support all students academically and socially

  • Support Specialists

  • Participate in documentation of student work including written reports

  • Attend faculty meetings and parent conferences as needed

  • Participate in school events and other extensions of classroom work as needed

  • Follow Cool Tools and other behavior management methods used school-wide

  • Ability to use computer technology i.e., Google Suite and email

  • Be flexible and proactive

Qualifications:

  • AA or BA degree in human development or education related field.

  • Experience teaching children ages 5 - 7

  • Fluency in Mandarin, both spoken and written

  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written

  • Knowledge of and experience teaching literacy and language arts to emergent readers and writers.

  • Knowledge of and experience teaching math to young children

Classification: 35 hours/week, Non-exempt
Compensation: $13.00 - $15.00/hour DOE

Preschool Teachers

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking creative individuals who would like to join Peregrine School’s teaching team as teachers in our preschool program providing educational daycare for students 18 months-5 years old. Peregrine School is currently hiring for all preschool programs for the 2019-2020 school year.

Qualifications:

  • Twelve (12) units of child development courses that qualify a candidate to become a Teacher according to California state licensing requirements for daycare centers. At least three (3) units must be infant/toddler development courses to work in the toddler program. Applicants may start with six (6) units if they are currently enrolled in more.

  • Life-long learner with academic interests in core subjects
