Substitute Teachers (AFTERNOON AVAILABILITY)

Substitute teachers in our Preschool need12 Units in Early Child Development or equivalent in Human Development or Psychology; or 6 units if actively taking more to complete the 12.

Substitute Administrative Assistant

We are currently accepting applications for a substitute Administrative Assistant for our West campus. This position provides administrative and staffing support to our admin office and Early Childhood Center (ECC) classrooms. This is a temporary position for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform COVID-19 screening for students entering campus.

  • Provide reception coverage for the front desk, including answering phone calls, taking messages, and answering the front door.

  • Meet, greet, and perform COVID-19 screening for visitors.

  • Schedule substitutes for teacher absences.

  • Provide daily support to Peregrine teachers and classrooms as needed based on staffing.

  • Provide daily support to the administrative staff e.g., data entry, email announcements

  • Perform general clerical duties e.g., filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing; maintain office supplies and coordinate equipment maintenance.

  • Keep the lobby and staff lounge neat and tidy.

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) units preferred, but not required.

  • Flexibility and initiative, reliability and punctuality.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the Peregrine School’s mission.

  • Experience in any of the following areas will be beneficial, but not required:

    • A school environment, particularly with children ages 18 months to 5 years

    • Customer service

    • Administrative/clerical duties

    • Nonprofits/volunteer work

Preschool Teacher (2021-2022)

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking both 3 full-time (30-40 hrs/week) teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. The ECC (Preschool) Teacher supports the Head and Lead Teachers in the implementation of class activities and projects. Teachers engage students in inquiry and exploration, and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for students under the guidance of the Head and Lead Teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support circle time, activities, and projects according to class structure, with guidance from Head and/or Lead Teachers

  • Engage students in a nurturing manner that uses open-ended questions and positive guidance techniques; facilitate games and activities with students

  • Create a physically safe and attractive classroom environment

  • Help serve and clean up meals

  • Help maintain classroom and garden through cleaning, organization, and yard work

  • Consult with Head Teacher or other appropriate teacher(s) when uncertain about how to handle a situation

  • Be knowledgeable of and follow school policies, protocol, and expectations

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings

  • Participate in school events and other extensions of classroom work and school program

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 12 Early Childhood Education units or equivalent; 6 units may be acceptable if actively taking more classes to complete the 12 units

  • Experience working with preschool children in a professional setting is preferred, but not required

  • Willingness and ability to engage in Reggio-Emilia and other child-centered, play-based approaches to teaching

  • Understanding of and commitment to Peregrine School’s mission and philosophy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels

 

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Salary: $15.00 - 17.00 per hour
