1st/2nd Grade Associate Teacher (2021-2022)

Summary of Job Description:

We are seeking creative individuals who would like to join Peregrine School’s teaching team an elementary Associate Teacher for grades k-2. This is a full-time position, from 8-4:30 daily. The Associate Teacher works closely with the classroom Teacher(s) to develop and teach class activities, and independently supervises students during transitions and free play. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the elementary program, under the direction of the Teacher

  • Prepare and teach lessons in special areas of curriculum as needed

  • Help ensure the program addresses and achieves its academic goals

  • Support the creation and maintenance of a positive classroom community which meets students’ emotional and physical needs

  • Support all students academically and socially

  • Be knowledgeable of and follow school policies, protocol, and expectations

  • Participate in documentation of student work, including written reports and portfolios

  • Collaborate with the Elementary Director and other elementary staff on the program

  • Collaborate with the Elementary Director to cover extra duties including supporting other elementary programs

  • Attend faculty meetings and parent conferences

  • Participate in school events and other extensions of classroom work and school program

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  •  An AA or equivalent in any subject, ideally with some education or child development courses, or a higher degree

  • At least one year of experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children

  • Knowledge of and experience with inquiry-based learning and integrated units that teach subjects in a manner that is effective and engaging, and incorporates state and federal standards

  • Understanding of and commitment to Peregrine School’s mission and philosophy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels

  • Special skills/interests in arts or in science a plus

 

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour.

K-2 Associate Teacher (2021-2022)

We are seeking a creative individual who would like to join Peregrine School’s teaching team as a K-2 grade Associate Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Associate Teacher works closely with the classroom Teacher(s) to develop and teach class activities, and independently supervises students during transitions and free play. The Associate Teacher also leads certain science, outdoor education, arts, language, and math activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the elementary program, under the direction of the Teacher

  • Prepare and teach lessons in special areas of curriculum as needed

  • Help ensure the program addresses and achieves its academic goals

  • Support the creation and maintenance of a positive classroom community which meets students’ emotional and physical needs

  • Support all students academically and socially

Substitute Teachers

We are currently accepting applications for substitute teachers for all Peregrine School programs: Preschool (ages 18 months to 6 years, ECE Units Required) and elementary (grades K-6).
