Pinyin & Reading
Mon. & Wed., 3:30-4:15 PM, grades K-1
Listening to Picture books is an activity kids love to participate in. The beautifully illustrated stories raise the natural curiosity of children and make learning fun and engaging. Pinyin is an alphabet based method for learning how to speak written Chinese words, it's also used on computers and smartphones to input Chinese characters. Given the widespread use of smart devices, mastering pinyin is actually more practical than learning to write the characters by hand. During this class time, besides reading storybooks, I will use video, animation, and game-playing to teach how to use pinyin. Students will learn through keywords and phrases through games and practice their speaking skills as well.
