Elementary Summer Camps

Farm Days

grades K-2 and 3-6

Our Farm Days camps explore culture, cooking, and a love for the outdoors in two-week sessions - all in our garden campus! Students will be led by expert teachers in growing a garden and how to cook using seasonal produce. Each camp will also explore the history of agriculture in California, arts and crafts, and more!

SOAR Camps

grades K-2

Peregrine's unique SOAR program (Science, Outdoor Education, Arts, and Responsibility) offered in two-week camps provides an integrated inquiry experience. Each session students will be led through a unique theme by our experienced specialty teachers. Students will be able to play in and explore our one-acre garden site every day!

Explorer Camps

grades 2-6

Explorer camps, offered in two-week sessions, provides a chance to learn classic camping skills, such as fire making and reading a compass. Students will explore the great outdoors and adventure around Davis alongside our camp counselors through walks and bike rides. These are active camps meant for the adventurous child!

Farm Days K-2: Early Summer

Celebrate the summer solstice in our one acre garden school, harvesting fruits and vegetables, cooking, making a pie, creating "old fashioned" toys, crafts and games, and enjoying the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder about pioneer life.

Session 2: 6/28-7/09

Farm Days K-2: Exploring Asian Contributions to California Foods

During this camp you'll learn about how Asian Americans settled California through food, history, and stories. You'll also be making arts and crafts and exploring our garden grounds during this camp.

Session 3: 7/12-7/23

Farm Days K-2: Exploring Early Days on California Ranchos

In this camp you will learn about how Mexican Americans settled California through cooking and stories from California Spanish ranchos. You'll also make crafts and explore our garden grounds!

Session 4: 7/26-8/6

Farm Days K-2: Celebrate Summer through a Farmers Market

Let your inner farmer grow and come harvest late summer vegetables from our school gardens. You'll learn how to prepare them for market and/or process them to sell at a farmers' market for Peregrine families.

Do you love the outdoors, arts and crafts, or delicious food? In this camp you'll learn about historic and current Asian communities in California through cooking, crafts, history, and stories.

Farm Days 3-6: Exploring Spanish and Mexican California

In this camp you'll learn about Spanish ranchos through stories, art, and crafts. The camp will also explore Mexican foods, crafts, and current roles in California agriculture.

Session 4: 7/26-8/6

Farm Days 3-6: Celebrate Summer through a Farmers Market

Do you love the farmers' market? Then you'll love this camp- come learn how to harvest and process vegetables and fruits for sale. Taste test melons, make jams and pastries, and even dry your own tea!

SOAR K-2: Exploring the Science and Art of Insect Life

In this camp you'll explore our one-acre garden school while studying real insects in the garden. You'll also making insect art and stories, inspired by the wonderful books by Eric Carle.

Session 2: 6/28-7/09

SOAR K-2: Exploring Science and Art in Butterflies and Bees

In this camp you'll study real pollinators- butterflies and bees- in our one acre garden school. We'll explore Gail Gibbons' books and create art and books of your own!

Session 3: 7/12-7/23

SOAR K-2: Exploring Nature Art - Make Your Own Worlds

This is a handy maker's camp. You will build a miniature worlds for toys and even a lean-to you can actually get into. Come and leave secret nature art behind!

Session 4: 7/26-8/6

SOAR K-2: Exploring flowers as art, science, and food

Come learn why flowers are so great! You will gather flowers and dissect them, make floral arrangements, count pollinators, and make a spectacular tea party from flower teas.

Session 1: 6/14-6/25

Explorer Camp 2-6: Learning Camp Skills

Do you like to ride a bike, go on adventures, and camp outside? In this camp you'll learn to explore the arboretum and Putah Creek by bike, use a compass, and build a campfire to cook your own lunch!

Session 2: 6/28-7/09

Explorer Camp 2-6: Learning Camping and Mapping Skills

In this camp you'll be an explorer and ride your bike to the arboretum, Putah Creek, and more. You'll also hike with a compass, make your own treasure map and conduct a treasure hunt!

Session 3: 7/12-7/23

Explorer Camp 2-6: Learning Camp Cooking with Solar Ovens

This camp will explore ways to cook with solar ovens as part of a camping adventure. You'll also be able to explore by riding bikes and hiking around Davis!

Session 4: 7/26-8/6

Explorer Camp 2-6: Learn Survival Skills

Explore ways to survive in the wilderness by safely learning how to make a fire and build simple tents and lean-tos. Let your inner explorer out and read and write survival stories.
